Over the years, street art has developed a negative connotation, and is often associated with crime, vandalism, and the like. One man, however, has devoted his career to prove that street art is a good thing for cities.

Patrick Verel has written books and conducted studies that measure people’s happiness in the presence of street art. It comes as no surprise that street art tends to make people happy, as it transforms buildings, and brings a community to life. Street art serves as a public outlet, as well as a way to turn buildings that may have otherwise been run down or deserted into murals.

Next time you see street art, think about how it could be making a positive impact on your community. Check out more of Patrick’s study here!
