An Evening in the Life is Good Tavern | In-Q and Martin Sexton

An evening at the Life is Good Tavern: music, inspiration and community coming together to help kids in need. All proceeds from the event when to benefit The Life is Good Kids Foundation. The Kids Foundation is the non-profit side of Life is Good. Their mission is to help kids heal—overcome early childhood trauma. Most simply put, a Playmaker is someone who makes a lasting, positive impact on the life of a child.

IN-Q is a National Poetry Slam Champion and multi-platinum winning songwriter, who has sold-out the largest one-man poetry show in Los Angeles history. His groundbreaking performances include being the first poet to perform at Cirque Du Soleil, as well as performing on Russell Simmons’ HBO Def Poetry Jam, ESPN’s World Series of Poker, and for audiences including Quincy Jones, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. He’s shared the stage with legendary artists John Legend, Eminem, and Red Hot Chili Peppers, and is at the forefront of the movement to reignite poetry into popular culture.

Martin Sexton’s music blends many genres of American music, including soul, gospel, country, rock, blues, and R&B. He is known for his wide vocal range and ability to improvise. He is also known for beatboxing and scat singing guitar solos. Onstage, he often plays fingerstyle guitar on a Godin model A6 and uses a distortion effect on a 2nd microphone to “sing” solos.
